Does financial support/assistance exist?

Due to the heterogeneous requirements of the students, the university has been unable to give any recommendations regarding possibilities in financial support. The study course participants are requested to consider financial support possibilities relating to their individual situation.

 

What are the entry requirements?

A university degree in natural sciences or medicine, one year professional experience and good English language skills are required.
It is to be expected that the students are capable of independently working and learning, otherwise, the successful management of the material will not be possible.

 

Is it right, that the course language is English?

The development of medicines is undertaken today almost completely in multinational cooperations. The communication is in English and due to this, the course language is English. A prerequisite is a good knowledge of English in both oral and written form, as well as the demands on oneself. The lecturers are in the position to assist at all times.

 

Who are the lecturers?

The lecturers are all experienced and highly qualified managers in the pharmaceutical industry, the authorities and health institutions. In each study unit 2-4 lecturers impart the study unit contents. The responsibility changes from study unit to study unit, so that the students meet a number of personalities, who come from different companies and institutions. With this, it is extremely advantageous to learn about the different strategies in managing of specific questions, in order to put together an individual spectrum for one's own personal use.

 

How often does the study course start?

Usually a new study course starts every two years in April (2005, 2007, 2009,....).

 

Who is the University Duisburg-Essen?

The Univeristy Duisburg-Essen is located in the middle of a region with the largest number of educational institutions per square kilometre in Europe. It is one of the largest universities in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. About 30,000 students are enrolled at the university.

 

Is the study course available to people in full-time employment?

The study course is organised, so that people who are working fulltime can also complete this program. The study course lasts 2 years and in this time, 18 study units will be offered. Each study unit lasts 3 days, namely Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This therefore means that the individual is responsible for the preparation of the study unit as well as the post-study-unit work. In order to make this possible, the students receive a Reader four weeks before the study unit containing articles and literature to be worked through. Especially for employees in the pharmaceutical industry, the authorities and health institutions this study course is means organised in a cost- and time economical manner.

       

How are the employment prospects afterwards?

90 percent of the participants made a career step or started employment during or directly after the study course.

       

What are the study fees?

The total course fee is currently € 12760,- ( € 6380,- per year). The fee includes the costs for the final examination.

       

How many participants are able to take part in one study course?

We will be teaching a group of around 25 participants per study course.

       

When will the interviews be hold?

In general the individual interviews will be arranged for February and March at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
